During the festival, lacquerware shops and outdoor stalls will offer a wide selection of fine pieces and special finds. This is a unique two-day event where guests can enjoy the lively atmosphere of a historic post town reminiscent of the Edo period.

Traffic Restrictions During the Festival

During the following hours, vehicles will not be permitted to enter or park within Narai-juku, Kiso-Hirasawa, or the surrounding restricted areas.

Saturday, June 6: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 7: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Guests arriving by car are kindly asked to take note of these restrictions in advance.

We Recommend Using Public Transportation

Every year during the festival, parking areas become extremely crowded, and traffic congestion often extends to the national highway. Depending on the time of day, guests may need to wait one to two hours to enter a parking area.

On June 6 and 7, limited express Shinano trains will make special stops at Narai Station and Kiso-Hirasawa Station. A free shuttle bus will also be in operation during the festival, so we recommend using public transportation whenever possible. The official festival website states that the festival will be held on June 6 and 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and that the free shuttle bus will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

For the free shuttle bus timetable and the JR special stop schedule, please refer to the official festival website below before your visit.

For Guests Arriving by Car

During the festival, vehicles will not be able to enter Narai-juku due to traffic restrictions. General parking areas are also expected to be very crowded and cannot be used as dedicated parking for hotel guests.

For this reason, BYAKU Narai has arranged a temporary parking area near the hotel for our staying guests.

Please note that the area around the entrance to the large parking lot at Michi-no-Eki Narai Kiso-no-Ohashi tends to become especially congested from around late morning. If you are arriving by car, we recommend arriving early or entering the area after 3:00 p.m., when traffic may be smoother.

Temporary Parking Area

The location of the temporary parking area can be found on Google Maps below.
